SACRED ORCHARD is a collaborative poster project honoring trees in Jewish myth, medicine and magic. With illustrations and design by Sol Weiss and writing by Dori Midnight, this poster series tells stories of 7 trees in Jewish lore: Apple, Cedar, Almond, Willow, Olive, Birch and Pomegranate. Among these trees, you will find ancient rituals and remedies, folk tales, ecological wisdom and seeds of torah. We hope these tree portraits and stories offer a sweet taste of ancestral wisdom and magic.

IN OUR HANDS is a 13”x19” poster with writing by Dori Midnight and art by Sol Weiss illuminating some of the beloved plant allies that have been part of Jewish protection spells for millenia. We hope this poster can be an invitation for you to work with these allies to craft your own amulets. May this practice move us towards liberation and abolition, and support us in divesting from and dismantling harmful structures that try to offer us an illusion of safety. As we re-imagine protection through fortifying our interdependence, aliveness and capacity, let us draw from the deep ancestral well and reach for these beloved plants, crafting a sense of safety by hand, for and with each other.
