sol yael weiss

Sol is a visual artist and cultural organizer raised on Lisjan Ohlone lands in the Bay Area, California. Sol uses ritual, art, song, creative strategy and experiential education for healing and cultural change at the intersections of land, justice and Jewish tradition.

Today, Sol is the Director of Communications & Resource Sharing with Tzedek Lab, a national multiracial network of political educators, organizers, spiritual leaders and cultural workers fighting antisemitism, racism and white supremacy. They also work as an artist, illustrator and graphic designer, representing musicians, organizers and community builders.

From 2017-2021, they served as Co-Director at Linke Fligl, a collective queer Jewish chicken farm & cultural organizing project where they managed operations and communications, and led programs and workshops for anti-colonial land connection, healing and liberation.

They have been part of the founding team of Nishmat Shoom radical Jewish minyan, conducted land rights research and advocacy with the Oakland Institute, served on the strategy team for the JVP Havurah Network, and facilitated anti-globalization workshops in Ladakh with Local Futures.

They love cooking elaborate feasts, learning new crafts and being outside.

We worked with Sol to design and create our ketubah because we wanted a piece that was nature-based, organic, non-traditional, and created by someone whose style and personality resonated with ours. Sol surpassed our expectations by listening to our dreams, bringing us creative ideas, and translating our hopes into art. We’ve received so many compliments on the artistry of the piece from our family and friends. I would 100% recommend Sol and would trust them again with a project so personal and meaningful.
